Looks like my name has had its moment. From 1984 to 1998, it ranked anywhere from the 10th to the 13th most popular girls name in the U.S., but by 2005, it was all the way down to #40. Of course, it didn't even make the top 1,000 until 1952 when it entered the charts at #846.
And that, I suppose, explains why I grew up being called Mee-gen. In fact, the only other Megans I met in the first 20 years of my life were Irish Setters.
