Brag about your old house!

OK, I have to admit I haven't really played with this site (basically because I'm not a big fan of sites that make you register to do just about anything -- which this one does), but this press release caught my eye:

Homeowners encouraged to share house history through new website

If you'd like to tell the world about the old house you live in, you now have a vehicle at That's My Old House. Sort of puts me in mind of If Walls Could Talk on HGTV. It looks very basic, but the site claims to have over 1,400 "house entries" in just its first month, so maybe there's something interesting brewing here. I definitely like the idea of house histories, so I'll keep an eye on this site.

Hello and thank you for mentioning our site ThatsMyOldHouse.com. The site is simple and hopefully easy to use and navigate. As the creator of the site, I was hoping to provide a source for folks to share the history of their home. Having once worked as the Executive Director of a historical society, I would encounter many people who would come in searching for the history of the historic home they had just purchased and likewise others who wanted to tell the story of their childhood home. I decided to create this site, making it free, even though it is quite costly on my end - in hopes it would continue to provide such a forum. So far it has. We are just now getting the word out but it seems to be spreading quickly. My friends at the National Trust for Historic Preservation (Western Chapter) will be printing an article on in their newsletter on the house. So here is to a place where people can share their memories. Thank you again...Pamela Ravenwood
