Spanish Parish Records

Og always wanted to be a paleographer, and now with Lynn Turner's help, he can! In the latest video from our Roots Lectures Series, Lynn Turner teaches a course on "Spanish Paleography" during the Hispanic Research Series at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. Lynn gives tips for reading and understanding Spanish parish records, including common phrases you need to know, parish book history and organization, basic rules and guidelines, most common abbreviations, vital records, and helpful resources. You can even view his lecture handout here. It's a paleographic paradise!
