"In Search of Annie Moore" Now Available for Download

Due to popular demand, we are now offering our original presentation, In Search of Annie Moore for download on our Pay TV Channel. Many of you already know the story of the young Irish girl Annie Moore, the first immigrant to pass through Ellis Island. Yet for years history had celebrated the wrong Annie. In this press conference held at the New York Public Library, see how genealogist Megan Smolenyak Smolenyak helped to find the right Annie. Watch as Megan and other avid genealogists trace the paper trail that leads to the real Annie Moore, meet Annie's descendants, and hear the true story of what happened to one of America's most famous Irish immigrants.

Don't worry - you'll still be able to view our Annie special for free on our website any time you like. But we have had several requests to make the program available for download as well. So now, if your society's meeting hall doesn't have internet access, or if you want to give an Annie Moore DVD to your great-aunt Gracie for her birthday, you can download the video right to your computer.

We've also mentioned before that from time to time, we find specialized programs produced by talented filmmakers who quite reasonably expect to be compensated for all of their hard work. The best way for us to make these special shows available to you is to offer them for rent or purchase on our Pay TV Channel. Our latest addition to the Pay TV channel is Gene Pull, a documentary by Irish filmmaker Angie Mezzetti. Angie was fascinated by the numbers of Americans and others drawn to visit their ancestral homeland in Ireland. Why do they feel such a strong tie to their ancestors, and what do they find when they finally return to their homeland? (In the interest of full disclosure for our many genetic genealogy friends, this film does not focus on DNA). If you'd like to get a peek at this new film, you can view the promotional trailer on the Irish Roots Channel.

Don't forget - in addition to the few select videos available on our Pay TV channel, RootsTelevision.com offers hundreds of genealogy and family history programs for free viewing on-demand. So while you're waiting for your daffodils to bloom these next few weeks, sit back any enjoy all that Roots TV has to offer!
