Happy Thanksgiving from the Surgeon General

Did you know that Thanksgiving is also National Family Health History Day in the U.S.?

Acting Surgeon General Steven K Galson, M.D., M.P.H., has declared Thanksgiving 2007 to be the fourth annual National Family History Day. Over the holiday or at other times when families gather, the Surgeon General encourages Americans to talk about, and to write down, the health problems that seem to run in their family. Learning about their family's health history may help ensure a longer, healthier future together.

If you find yourself running out of dinner conversation this Thanksgiving, it might be time to pull out your Family Health Portrait. The holiday season is one of the best times of year to blitz your older relatives and gather every genealogical morsel you can. But while you're quizzing Aunt Ruth about her long lost brother's birthplace, you might also want to ask after her health. And if you're still not quite sure where to begin, check out our latest video from the popular Ancestors series, Your Medical Heritage.

Og reminds you to enjoy yourselves this holiday season, and to travel safely! Roots Television

Meeting David Wilson Meets MSNBC

Og hates to say he told you so, but well.... Over a year ago, Og's good friend Megan Smolenyak met David Wilson during an interview in New York and learned of his film project, Meeting David Wilson. Og knew from the get go that this would be a compelling story, and we've been showing the film's trailer on our African Roots Channel ever since. So Og can't say he's surprised to see that David's film is scheduled to run on MSNBC next Friday, April 11th. If you haven't already, check out the trailer here!
